Pasta with Peas

1 pound small pasta (Fusilli, macaroni, etc.)
1 large can (12 oz / 340 g) of peas
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1 Tbs dried basil
1/4 cup olive oil
2 Tbs lemon juice
1-2 cups diced ham (optional)
black pepper
grated parmesan or romano cheese

1. Boil water and cook pasta, drain and set aside in pan.
2. Fry onions in olive oil until translucent.
3. Reduce heat to medium, add peas with liquid from the can, basil, lemon juice, ham (optional), and pepper and cook 3-5 minutes.
4. Add to pasta, mix well, and serve.
5. Provide parmesan or romano cheese for crew to sprinkle on the pasta.
