Cinnamon French Toast
This breakfast favorite originated as a way to use bread that was dry or going stale, so it is perfect after a week or ten days on board. Because it needs to be served relatively fresh from the skillet, the cook will need to make them while the crew eats.
12 slices of light bread 4 eggs or equivalent prepared from egg powder 2 cups milk 4 tbs sugar 2 tsp cinnamon cooking oil
1. Mix ingredients in bowl or pan 2. Heat skillet to medium high heat and add small amounts of oil as necessary 3. Soak the bread slices one at a time for a few moment until saturated with the liquid and immediately put in the skillet 4. Fry until both sides are lightly browned. Serve immediately.
Let the crew decide whether to top them with syrup, jam, honey, or applesauce.
Great when accompanied by sausages! |
