Country Bread
6 cups flour 3 Tbs dry yeast or dough starter 2 cup warm water 1/2 cup sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp salt 1/4 cup oil 3/4 cup milk
1. Dissolve yeast in water in a mixing bowl. 2. Mix milk, sugar, eggs, salt, oil and half the flour into the bowl. 3. Gradually add rest of the flour while mixing into a dough. 4. Knead on a flour surface for 6-8 minutes until smooth. 5. Put in greased mixing bowl, rolling all sides to cover with a thin coat of grease, and let rise until doubled in size, 1 to 1/2 hours. 6. Punch down, cut in half and shape into 2 loaves. Let rise until doubled in size, 1 to 1/12 hours. 7. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). 8. Rub coat of oil on top of bread. Score top of loaves with 3-4 cuts that are 1/4 deep about 1-2 inches apart. 9. Put loaves on baking sheet in middle of oven and cook for 30 minutes or until nicely brown. |
