Heat in juices and while heading add one of the following:
* pearl onions
* sliced mushrooms
OR
Heat and drain peas, then add one of the following:
* bacon bits or small cubes of ham
* red pepper flakes
* diced sauted onions
* diced red onion
* diced garlic
* diced red pepper
OR
heat peas, drain all but about 2 Tbs liquid, and mash to make mushy peas
if you like, add bacon bits or red pepper flakes.
