Breadsticks

2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/3 cup of butter
1/3 cup warm water
sesame seeds or chopped garlic (optional)

1. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl.
2. Mix in softened butter until it has a crumbly texture.
3. Gradually add water, mixing into a dough.
4. Knead on a flour surface for 3-5 minutes until smooth.
5. Put in greased mixing bowl, rolling all sides to cover with a
thin coat of grease, and let rise 1 hour.
6. Break into small balls about 1 to 2 inches in diameter and
roll out into long sticks about 1/4 thick. If you wish, roll them in
sesame seeds or chopped garlic. Put sticks on a baking pan.
7. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Cook for
10-15 minutes (time varies by oven and placement of the pan,
so keep a watch!) until golden brown. Test one by breaking in
half to see that the inside is dry and has the texture of a
cracker.

Makes about 20 breadsticks.
