Black Beans and Rice

1 can (16 oz / 450 g) black beans
2 cups rice
4 cups water
2 Tbs olive oil
1 medium onion
3 cloves garlic
1 Tbs oregano
2 Tbs tomato paste or 1/4 cup crushed tomatos
1 Tbs red pepper flakes or a few dashes of Tabasco sauce

1. Boil water, add rice, and turn heat to low until all water is
absorbed (usually about 20 minutes).
2. After putting rice on, saute onion and garlic in the oil.
3. Add beans, tomato, and seasonings.
4. Reduce heat to medium low and cook until rice is ready.
6. Serve over the rice.
